O'Reilly User Group Program

http://oreilly.com

SV-SPIN is a member of the O'Reilly User Group Program which provides the following benefits:
  • If you have any interest in writing book reviews, O'Reilly offers free review copies of their books. See http://ug.oreilly.com/bookreviews.html for the guidelines and to browse the books that are available for review. There's an amazing selection of great books! The requests need to come through me, so if you're interested in writing a review, please let me know. We'll publish the reviews on our website and/or our Yahoo Group site.
  • If you aren't interested in writing reviews, but still like to purchase and read books, SV-SPIN members receive a 35% discount on O'Reilly, No Starch, PC Publishing, Pragmatic Bookshelf, Rocky Nook, SitePoint, and YoungJin products purchased directly from O'Reilly. The discount code you should use is DSUG. Orders can be placed online at http://www.oreilly.com/store/ or by calling 800-998-9938. Our members are also entitled to a discount on O'Reilly conferences and tutorials.
Other special discount offers may also be forwarded to me from time to time - I'll try to filter these to keep this list from feeling like the O'Reilly Spam Club and only forward on those that look like they'll be of interest to the membership.
  • Some of their authors are able to speak at group meetings. Let me know if you are interested in someone in particular and I'll do what I can to help arrange it.

Occasional Giveaways and Door Prizes:

O'Reilly also regularly donates books and other promotional items for meeting door prizes -- just let me know if you're interested in something particular and I'll put in a request.
