Welcome to the Silicon Valley SPIN

The Silicon Valley Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN) is comprised of individuals who are focused on improving the software engineering practice. This forum of software technologist and process practitioners gather monthly to share their experiences in initiating and sustaining software process improvement programs.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Silicon Valley SPIN is a forum for the free and open exchange of software process improvement ideas and practical experiences. We promote achieving higher levels of process maturity, software quality, and mutual respect. Our goal is to enhance the skills and support technology transition through an active program of networking, publications, recognition of excellence, and mutual support.

The Silicon Valley SPIN has a general membership of approximately 350 individuals from throughout the Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay Area, with an average monthly meeting attendance of about 20 to 40. SPIN meetings are held at Cisco Systems from 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the last Wednesday of every month (except holidays). Each meeting addresses a specific topic. Flyers providing details on the meeting topic as well as logistical information are mailed electronically and posted to the events calendar at least one week prior to the meeting. Previous topics have included the Capability Maturity Model®, PSPSM, metrics, change management, requirements management, customer satisfaction, and ISO 9001. The events calendar details the dates, topics, and presenters for all meetings. The Silicon Valley SPIN currently has no fees; all meetings are open and free to all software process practitioners and their associates.

The Silicon Valley SPIN is administered by a Steering Committee which is made up of seven Chair positions - President, Vice-President(2), Progams, Publicity, Membership, and ASQ Coordinator. The SPIN also sponsors Special Interest Groups (SIGs) as there is interest. There are currently no active SIGs. If you are interested in starting or participating in a SIG contact Suzanne Garner.
